Digital room for electronics and telecom training

Several economic sectors in Senegal are in need of technical skills in electronics and telecom. This is obviously the case for the cell phone sector, but also for electricity, energy, industry, and even the automobile industry. The major companies in these sectors, particularly in the energy and telephony sectors, resort to subcontracting SMEs for the installation and maintenance of services throughout the country.

Technical training in electronics and telecom requires an adequate combination of theoretical and practical training, which is not easy to implement in public training centers.

To provide the CFP/CEFAM with an innovative digital device to diversify the training offer and improve the quality of teaching-learning for a better insertion of the graduates.

Expected Results

  • A multifunctional digital room is set up.
  • Access to vocational and technical training and the quality of learning are improved in the electronics and telecom sector.
  • 250 young people in the trades implemented by the CFP/CEFAM are trained and accompanied for labour market integration.

Strategy and activities

A training center, in close connection with companies and actors of the accompaniment for labour market integration of young people in its territory, associates with a European company, supplier of innovative teaching material, to develop a digital room of practical training dedicated to electronics and telecoms.

The training offer will mainly target initial training (training of young people, future recruits of companies or potential creators of subcontracting companies).

The activities of the project will be:

  • Construction of a multifunctional digital room.
  • Acquisition of equipment and software for the multifunctional digital room.
  • Training of trainers.
  • Launching of training activities.

Expected main outcome

The action aims at training 250 people in initial training, 200 of whom will have access to decent employment at the end of the project.
