Context

This Country Action Plan for the Democratic Republic of Congo is an intervention that is based on the achievements of the EDUKAT program executed by Enabel in Haut-Katanga and Lualaba under the cooperation program from Belgium.

Based on a prospective market analysis of employment and labor needs in the sector economic, the project aims to create a more structured collaboration between the actors of the VET system and companies with European capital.

Four specific sectors have been chosen for this VET Toolbox project:

  • Construction and public works
  • Transport and logistics
  • Hotels and restaurants
  • Digital

Objective

Contribute to formalizing, developing and testing a integrated recruitment service offer (selection and training) for the benefit of targeted companies (companies fully or partially capitalized European).

Expected main outcome

  • Operational implementation of a Sector Skills Council (CCS) within the sectoral chambers of the Fédération des Entreprises du Congo (FEC) based in Lubumbashi with an extension of implementation to Kolwezi.
  • Vocational training with an apprenticeship system in partner companies and training structures:
    • 300 professional internships
    • 20 internship supervisors
    • 80 company employees (youth inclusion, gender, and vulnerability)
  • Access to decent jobs for:
    • 280 people (including 35% of women and 40% of youth)
