Future Movers Programme: an innovative VET ecosystem promoting increased and certain employability among youth IDPs in post-conflict Marawi

Summary

ASSIST proposes a project entitled Future Movers Programme – an innovative take on building a VET ecosystem with an overall objective of increasing employability and encouraging empowerment among disadvantaged and vulnerable youth in post-conflict Marawi. Specifically, the Programme aims to achieve this impact through ‘up-skilling’ and ‘right-skilling’ in-school and out-of-school youth internally displaced persons (IDPs) under an inclusive and market-driven VET ecosystem – while adopting a modular approach to learning (combining online / technology-aided training, and offline mentorship) for easy replication and scaling for future.

Target groups

In-school and out-of-school disadvantaged and vulnerable youth in post-conflict Marawi.

Results

The Future Movers Programme will result in increased / certain employability and encourage empowerment of youth IDPs. This programme will also be a sustainable source of effective VET training for students as they prepare for employment prospects and other challenges in the work force. TVIs on the other hand will be able to handle specialized needs of disadvantaged students – while making them marketable to industry employers. Alignment with the industry’s skills demands will be maintained through the ecosystem.
